The Pull List for November 26, 2014

Again, for this week (and for the rest of this year, probably), I'll continue to produce my pull list like this here. I'll be changing up formats at the first of the year, though, and by then, I'll have my digital comics pull list set up and I'll have found a comic shop where I can get physical copies. Anyway, cool story, bro, here's what's up for this week.

It's always a little weird whenever a creative team changes on a comic you've been reading. It can go poorly, like the turn that Batwoman sadly took when Williams and Blackman left the series, or, as far as Catwoman goes, it can blow you out of the water with pure awesomeness. Selina Kyle has always been a badass, but she's always been somewhat of a loner - not the leader of a major Gotham crime family. I love the art in this one, too; it just screams Catwoman to me.

FINALLY, the last issue of this wretched series. Why did I torture myself? You know, have absolutely no fucking clue. There was probably a reason for my fortitude at the beginning - perhaps a hope that it would improve and not make me feel bad about my choices? - but that's all gone now. Now it's just about finishing the dumbass race to the finish.

So I didn't really like this one that much, especially since it seems that Wilson is still affected by the inversion from Avengers & X-Men AXIS, as evidenced by his willingness to commit to killing the Mighty Avengers and by the inclusion of a holographic Superior Tony Stark. I was a little disappointed that the other characters weren't featured as much as was teased - the interaction between Luke Cage and Spider-Man was a little melodramatic - but maybe this will turn out to be good.

I'm wondering if Marvel and DC didn't do each other a mutual disservice by giving Deathstroke and Deathlok very similar names. I mean, it was a little confusing, and I can't remember if I liked Deathstroke more than Deathlok. I'm fairly certain it was Deathstroke - he was the one who woke up younger at the end, I think - but just to be safe, I'll be reading both this week. One will be removed; who will it be?? (Hint: probably Deathlok. I think.)

I absolutely adore Matt Fraction, so I am totally on board with this one from the get-go. I'm not familiar at all with artist Christian Ward, but based on the sneak peek in Previews, I am going to love ODY-C. I have no idea what it's even about, but I don't think that matters one bit right now.

Okay, so I am a huge Planet of the Apes fan and have been since I was a kid (I choose to believe Tim Burton's version happened in an alternate universe that was wiped from the overall continuity by a giant New 52-style reboot), and the renewed interest in the franchise is exciting. While the new entries in Apes wasn't the absolute best, I can't say that I wasn't pleased with its execution. Here's hoping that the comic will add to the series rather than detract from it.

COLLECTIONS

Inhuman Vol. 1: Genesis Trade Paperback

Inhuman Volume 1: Genesis (Marvel) 
100% loving this series, and although I have the single issues, I'm going to bag and board those and stick to rereading this trade. However, I'm also considering holding out and waiting for the hard cover collection, but I'm not sure how long I can wait on that. What can I say? Instant gratification is a big weakness of mine.

Honestly, I'd never heard of this series before seeing it in Previews World, and it looks right up my alley: "one of the world's first super-heroines ... she used her great powers [of the Northern Lights] to ward off Nazi invaders, shady fur traders, subterranean mammoth men, and inter-dimensional ether people." If that doesn't sound amazing, I never knew you.
