Finally, a new Captain America who isn't some white dude. I mean, I love me some Steve Rogers as much as the next girl, but things are ripe for a change-up. As far as Wilson's ability to take on the mantle of Cap, I've really enjoyed how he's been all, "Hey, guys, I'm not that Captain America, so stop trying to make me" so far in the AXIS storyline. His decisions aren't necessarily the ones I would have made, but you know what? He owns those decisions and will give you the finger if you disagree, and that I can respect.
Avengers and X-Men AXIS #5 (Marvel)
I am so confused, you guys. The Avengers and mutants are all brainwashed, I think? Everybody is just acting so weird and paranoid and kind of dickish, actually. Now I'm going to have to go back and read #4 more thoroughly before I delve into this one. Damn you, Marvel.
AXIS Hobgoblin #2 (Marvel)
While I probably won't buy Hobgoblin, I will say that it is currently my favorite AXIS-related tie-ins (Revolutions was ... blech), since Roderick Kingsley (the original Hobgoblin) is now a Marvel superhero version of a self-help guru. It's only three issues (I think), so I don't know what kind of story is going to be told, but hey, it was funny and engaging. Good work there, guys. I'll be coming back for #2.

Woot, Batgirl of Burnside is back! Only Captain Marvel and the new Thor title (with Spider-Woman coming out later this month) can get me as excited as I am about Batgirl. The cover looks awesome (I think I'll want the regular cover above by Cameron Stewart over the Cliff Chiang variant, but I may change my mind when I see it in person), and based on what I saw from #35, the ante has just been upped. Can't fucking wait to read this.
Batman #36 (DC)
DC's approach to the "Endgame" arc is a little annoying, since I have no clue as to what I'm getting into or whether or not I should even bother? Now the surprise reveal of Joker in the additional comic at the end was a nice touch (although I missed it the first read-through because I thought Superman looking like Joker was the actual conclusion)
Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier #2 (Marvel)
I was not expecting to like Bucky Barnes even a little bit. I'm one of the only people who hasn't seen Captain America: The Winter Soldier (although I have watched the Cinema Sins reaction to it), so I was dubious that it would hold my attention for more than a few pages. But it did indeed intrigue me enough to look forward to tomorrow's issue. This will probably be another read-pile comic, but we'll see!

For some reason, I thought this was coming out last week? Oh, well. I know very little about most of the characters that will be joining Wilson in this title, except Monica Rambeau, with whom I'm familiar through Captain Marvel, and wasn't Luke Cage in Mortal Kombat? Anyway, like so many titles, I'm picking this title up blind - apparently, Doc-Ock-as-Spider-Man pissed of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage?? - but hopefully, it will be kind to a new reader like me.
Captain Marvel #9 (Marvel)
By far my favorite comic out there right now, Captain Marvel has yet to disappoint me. Deconnick consistently writes beautifully, the art is fantastic, and if Deconnick doesn't write the script for the movie coming out in 2018, I will scream and tear my hair out. Alright. I feel better now.
Copperhead #3 (Image)
I really think that Copperhead has as much potential to be an awesome television show as The Walking Dead ever had, if not more (sorry, I'm not a huge fan of the comic or the show, so feel free to lob angry emails to me). Maybe since Syfy has recently come to terms with the fact that they've kinda sucked for the past few years, they could pick it up???? It's paced perfectly, introducing you to the world, characters, and culture simultaneously, and you know what? SYFY, TAKE MY ADVICE AND PURCHASE THE RIGHTS ALREADY.

I love science fiction so incredibly much, and sadly, it's not done very well a lot of the time. This series sounds pretty solid - inspired by Dune and Unforgiven, two genres that I love combined - and I look forward to checking it out.
Earth 2: World's End #6 (DC)
The last issue left me a little confused: the art was scattered, and I actually had no idea that Helena was tossed into ... that pit. Or whatever it was. Mr. Terrific and his Boom Tube Balls (that's what I call them, at least) seem to be a little short-sighted, and I'm really hoping that the writers aren't just going to drop Doctor Fate's reversal spell, because, um, that's a handy little thing. Honestly, so much happened that I kind of have decided that giant team series may not be my cup of tea. Perhaps if I'd had a long-standing history with the characters, I wouldn't mind it as much, but often, I find myself not caring about apparently big things (Lois finding Clark possibly dead?) and getting into other sort of weird ideas (the Grey and the Green uniting to fight for the whole of the earth). Meh, I'll see where this goes, but I'm rapidly losing interest, really.
Green Lantern Corps #36 (DC)
I am fully committed to seeing the Godhead storyline come to a close, and it doesn't hurt that, since the New Guardians #35, the writing has been tip top. I loved when, in last week's Green Lantern, Sinestro basically says, "Look, Hal, give up this whole responsibility thing because you're kind of weak sauce now," and I hope that the story continues in this vein. With Jordan gone, though, that leaves Stewart with a lot on his plate. I'm still not sure with how this is all headed, but I expect that Green Lantern Corps will start to send the arc in an actual direction.

Okay, so this series is silly. I'll give you that. But I love the pairing of Hawkeye and Deadpool. Whether or not they use this to its fullest potential is for debate, but as for me, I am satisfied. I stopped picking up the issues after #0, but I'll definitely buy the trade when it comes out.
Justice League United #6 (DC)
Dammit, Legion of Superheroes. That's a kid you're trying to kill. I don't know; it kind of seems like the writers are borrowing from Looper here, but I'm willing to let that slide, since I like Justice League United that much.
The Kitchen #1 (Vertigo)
I follow Ming Doyle on Instagram, and I absolutely love her style, which is what primarily is drawing me to The Kitchen. While I was never a fan of gangster movies or TV shows, I can get behind a female view of the dark underbelly of a male-dominated field like drug-dealing. (Granted, this idea is based solely upon no real life experience, so you can blame Hollywood for my lack of knowledge on the drug scene.) Maybe this will be like a darker, more Irish Weeds?

I'm not sure what to expect from Spider-Verse except what I've read on Marvel's website: it's an anthology, and in one story, there's a steampunk Spider-Woman. Sure, I'll go with it.
Superior Iron Man #1 (Marvel)
I really don't know about this one, you guys. Anti-heroes can be fun, especially when they're channeling Robert Downey, Jr.'s take on the character, but when Marvel calls this new version of Tony Stark to be a guilty pleasure, I can't help but wonder if this isn't going to blow up in their faces. I'll withhold my judgment until tomorrow, though.
Thor #2 (Marvel)
Last month's reveal of the new Thor sent tingles up my spine. That final page was worth the $3.99 I paid for the issue, and based on the preview, the second installment will be that much better. I'm hoping that they don't hide the identity of Thor for too much longer, though, since that could become tedious. But Jason Aaron is incredibly adept, as he's shown in every other book he's written, so I don't have much fear there. Eeeeek!! EXCITE.
Wytches #2 (Image)
Soooooooo looking forward to the second issue of Wytches. Yes, some of the images in the first issue were gory, but I didn't have any nightmares! Yay!
