Dear Sister Person Book Club

A little back story is warranted here, I suppose. After reading Courtney Milan's The Governess Affair, I went into read-all-the-romance-novels mode. I even went to get a library card for the specific purpose of sating my need, and that day, I brought home a decent stash, with one book being Beth Ciotta's Her Sky Cowboy, a particularly silly-looking book with a hilariously silly-looking cover. When I posted it to my Facebook page (shameless self-promotion, I know), my sister immediately responded with, "OMG I WANT TO READ THIS WITH YOU."

And thusly began Dear Sister Person Book Club. The concept is pretty simple: my sister and I read a book and then review it to the best of our abilities. While I'll post mine on this blog, she'll do the same on hers (it's called the Dear Sissybug Book Club there), and then we link to each other's. Voila! Don't worry - it won't be all romances. I fully plan on making her read Divergent very, very soon.

For our September reviews - as you might have guesssed, Her Sky Cowboy was our maiden voyage, followed by its sequel, His Clockwork Canary - we both posted on the first and third Thursdays, but from now on, depending on who chose the book(s), the other sister will write the first review, and then the next Thursday, the chooser will respond with her take on the book. You know, more of a correspondence sort of thing. Next up is Just for Christmas, which I think is appropriate, given the time of the year. Following that, however, is the weirdly titled and strangely covered Mercycle by Piers Anthony. Which, yes, I chose that one. I still have yet to get her back for Touched by an Alien.

Anyway, if you have any ideas as to what we should read, you can either comment here or shoot me an email at juniper dot trela at gmail dot com.

Her Sky Cowboy by Beth Ciotta
His Clockwork Canary by Beth Ciotta
This is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper
Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch
The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
Divergent by Veronica Roth
