Oh, the 80s. I managed to escape a lot of the fashion atrocities, being that I was between the ages of 0 and 7 during the decade, thanks mostly to my mom who dressed me in little get-ups* like this:

My husband, on the other hand, was not so lucky. His mother had a huge crush on Sonny Crockett and used to dress him up as if he
was Sonny Crockett, which leads to some rather awkward conversations that, well, I'd rather avoid at this point in time.
However, I will say this. There is still something inherently sexy about the way Sonny dresses in the first couple of seasons. The casual breeziness that he embraces is attractive, even if it does include tucked-in T-shirts (in pleated pants, natch).
As the seasons go on, though, Sonny's fashion tends to be a bit more boxy and baggy, which ew. No.
Now, Rico Tubbs is more interesting, in that his style doesn't really change all that much throughout the series. It's always more streamlined and simple; dare I say it, more urbane, as opposed to Sonny's more pragmatic - and I use pragmatic
very loosely here - stylistic choices.

The only real difference in his outfits is his facial hair, which amounts to a beard that Philip Michael Thomas wore throughout Season Four.
I call it unfortunate because it makes him look like Uncle Phil from
The Fresh Prince, but in all honesty, the beard doesn't look
that bad on him. But damn, wouldn't that be hot in Miami? And I mean that temperature-wise.
The rest of the cast went through the gamut that was the barren wasteland of the 1980s. Poor, poor Trudy usually got the worst of it.

Baseball cap? CHECK. No bra? CHECK. Long skirt? CHECK and CHECK.

Okay, she is
killing it here, complete with a perfect expression of disdain. Plus, she's made the bold fashion statement of wearing green gloves with this ensemble.

Body con dresses were Trudy's Thing in later seasons, and honestly, I'm not gonna hate on her for it. She looks awesome, if not entirely inappropriate for office work.

Damn, Trudy, rock that shit. That is actually an outfit that I would wear now. This makes me uncomfortable.

Dammit, Trudy, making me want a dress like this.

Everything about this is all sorts of wrong, but it's a nice segue into Gina!

If there's one thing I learned from this show, all the hookers that are clean-looking and wearing nice clothes are cops. Everyone else looks like shit. Ahem. Now, Gina was a big fan of the dresses with V-necks, sometimes really low-cut, like the one above.

To be honest, I found a lot of Gina's wardrobe to be a bit boring. She shined a few times, but Trudy was definitely the better dressed of the two, even with that awful baseball cap.
However, I think the winner of the Most 80s Outfit Ever goes to this dude:

* When it was up to me, I went with this sort of ensemble:
