As you may have noticed, I haven't been around the past two months. It's been a little on the nutso side of things; from having mental breakdowns, penny-pinching, losing an internet connection because the apartment basically lied to us, and moving for the third* time in eleven months, I haven't been able to focus as much time as I'd like on here, but hey, all that's behind us. I mean, I'll probably have more emotional revelations that send me into fits of despair, but I'll be on here, ready to share. Which actually, why don't I start with some updates?
First, I'm not going to be doing the Pull List until I can catch up with my real one (I have a crazy stack at my shop right now), but I will be doing some reviews now that I have the internet again, starting with ... actually, I have no idea which one I will review first, but I'll be posting one this Friday. Second, Dear Sister Person Book Club (DSPBC, obvs) is going to start up again here fairly soon, although since the sibling is out of the country for a year and teaching unruly five-year-olds, it may be a bit more sporadic. I think we've picked out he next book, but I'll have to get back to you on that one. Third, I have a ton of Life with Pets posts coming up, many of which have been inspired by the last month or so. Bitsy has had several adventures, the last leaving me in tears for nearly two days straight, and Kitkat is starting to show her age. Even though it may not seem like the two are related, Bina has claws and our only real furniture - aside from our lawn chairs in the living room - is an inflatable bed, so you can connect the dots on how that story is going to go.
Speaking of stories, I am pitching one of mine (possibly two?) to Oni Press, and I am ridiculously excited about it. Like, bouncing off the walls excited. Between home improvement projects and this, I have barely been able to think about anything else. I've even been dreaming about it ... you know, in addition to the horribly weird apocalyptic ones that usually make up my normal dreamscape. I know that there are going to be hundreds of submissions and that it will be a tough fight, but I really feel strongly that I have a good chance. That could just be blind optimism, but who cares? It's been too long since I've had this much confidence in myself.
Anyway, before I go off on the Oni thing, like I said above, I moved again, only this time, it's into a house ... that in a week Three and I WILL OWN. The process has not been smooth - and believe you me, you will be getting a couple stories out of it - and the house is quite a project, but it's going to be ours, which makes it all more than worth it. I've already created so many Pinterest boards that it's a little difficult to remember where I've pinned stuff, and Three and I have visited both Home Depot and Lowe's (both separately and together) enough times I'm worried the employees may think we're casing the joint for some sort of lumber caper. But I'm just so excited! Painting the living room and kitchen comes first, and then beyond!
That's pretty much my recent history in a nutshell. Over the next couple of posts, I'll elaborate, but it's late and I drastically need some sleep. I've also started a new workout regimen (inspired by Dwayne Johnson, natch), and it's kicking my ass right now, especially since I have to be up in about, oh, seven hours to get my cardio in. So ciao, lovahs!
* Technically, it's 2.5 times, since our move isn't really completed. We still have a bunch of stuff in storage up in Kentucky, and is that going to be a chore.
